🙏for sharing. We/I need to hear the pain that follows survival. The grief & shock is individual & the struggle to overcome & still stand tall, vast. A stamp on ones psyche forever. One learns to move on w/life, however PTSD remains in a vast array of forms, always lurking to manifest at any moment. 🫂 & 🙏 for surviving each moment to share the pain of determination to continue on breathing🌈💙🇺🇦💛🌈💪
This is such a personal and painful essay, Svitlana. I will not presume to even barely imagine the collective trauma these past years have caused, let alone these recent attacks. Your matter-of-fact descriptions break the heart and if it helps, even a little bit, know that you are seen and heard. I extend a faraway hug and hope your guardian angel stays on task. 💔🇺🇦
Thank you, Debórah. I try to write at least something about my life here, hoping that the context of war becomes a little bit more visible to those outside Ukraine. It's helpful for me to do some of this processing here, publicly; Substack seems like the right platform for these journals, and a supportive community of people who genuinely care.
I appreciate your journaling/writing/chronicling. It does, indeed, bring us readers into your experience. You shouldn't have to process this war alone...
Thank you, Sky. The attacks of this past month truly surpassed the viciousness of what came before, and it would be remiss not to write about them. I, too, hope that moments of calm are more frequent. And I hope to share more about joyful things, the moments and experiences that are easier.
